Visceral Manipulation Massage

The Viscera
The body is held together and given its shape and form by tissue connecting our internal organs and our muscular skeletal system. This connective tissue, consisting of ligamentous fascia, more specifically defined as the internal organs, is called viscera. Early during embryonic development, viscera in the body become the essential matrix and support to our physics of motion.
Visceral Manipulation
Health is characterized by unrestricted motion. When the body experiences stress or strain our viscera may tighten and adhere, decreasing mobility and wellness. Visceral Manipulation begins by first assessing the individual’s mobility and then targeting the connective tissue so vital to our emotional and physical health.
Differences between Visceral Manipulation and Traditional Massage
Unlike conventional Swedish massage, which is concerned with our large muscle groups, Visceral Manipulation permanently restores and balances the wellness of the connective tissue itself.
How Visceral Manipulation Works
Using gentle manual forces, Visceral Manipulation encourages the body’s own natural mechanisms for relaxation to improve the function of organs, enhance mobility, decrease the effects of stress, and influence general metabolism and energy.
Preventing and Healing Trauma
Healing trauma is a physical and emotional phenomenon. Trauma that affects the body’s organs and connective tissue eventually become abnormal points of tension, manifesting as chronic irritation, limiting mobility, pain, often leading to disease or serious dysfunction. Visceral Manipulation effectively treats this trauma on both the physical and emotional levels. The effects of trauma include conditions such as: fatigue, loss of energy, headaches, labored breathing, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, hiatal hernia, acid reflux, diminished liver function, sciatica, release of adhesion post surgery/injury, pelvic release after birth, prostate discomfort, scoliosis, chronic neck, back, hip, and knee constriction.
In addition to addressing these conditions of trauma, Visceral Manipulation is also a preventive form of bodywork for all ages.
