Mara Concordia, LMT, CEO, and Owner, is an Arizona licensed Massage Therapist and owner of Peaceful Spirit Massage & Wellness Centers. Originally from Chicago, Mara has been in Tucson for over 20 years. She graduated from the Desert Institute of the Healing Arts in August of 1996 and opened Peaceful Spirit Therapeutic Massage Centers the very next month! Peaceful Spirit is now enjoying their 20th year in business in Tucson. She is super proud of the team of talented practitioners of Peaceful Spirit, especially how they have helped thousands of people change their lives by feeling more relaxed, and reducing or eliminating their pain.
Mara has regularly appeared on KOLD TV’s morning news "Ask The Expert" program. She coined her slot "Wellness Wednesdays." Mara shares her long history in natural health care with clients and the Tucson community because she feels that everyone has the potential to lead a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life. Benita, LMT's style is deeply relaxing while working deeper into mucscles to improve movement, release spasms and give pain relief. She has completed level one Cranio Sacral Therapy and Kinesio Taping level one. In the future she plans to add reflexology and deepen her knowledge and techniques with sports massage. Benita says she loves giving massage because it never feels like work!
Bethany, LMT, became a massage therapist in 2015. She chose this career because of the impact therapeutic massage has had on her father's chronic low back pain. She enjoys sports massage because it helps clients improve their range of motion and the active stretching eases muscle tension. In addition, she helps a lot of our older clients to stay active and moving with ease. Bethany has tremendous compassion for veterans as her dad was a paratrooper in the army. She understands the huge value of massage therapy for our veterans and encourages them to learn about the benefits. Recently, Bethany completed a continuing education class on Intro to Reflexology, and will be attending our Intro to Russian Sports Massage in May.
Fain, LMT, joined us in 2016. Her education background is in art history, has been teaching art for many years and is a world traveler, too! Her great life experience makes her a very well balanced therapist. She went above and beyond during her education where she did an externship with local licensed massage therapists to get extra clinical education. By doing this she has become extremely proficient in helping people with specific pain or injuries. Her artistic background helps her to be sensitive while helping those who just need to de-stress! She has completed our Advanced Deep Tissue massage class and Intro to Reflexology classes. This summer she is completing her Thai Massage certification!
Raul, LMT, joined us in the summer of 2017, shortly after he received his professional license. He began this journey because he is very interested in the natural approach to healing and wellness. Raul is currently working on his sports and medical massage certifications. He says, "There is so much to learn in the field of massage therapy and you can always expand your horizons. I enjoy doing more vigorous and specific work for that pain that doesn't go away. I love being able to do what I do with my hands , it's a true miracle."
Breanna, LMT, joined our team in June of 2014. She began her "helping people" career in 2002 as a certified psych tech. She worked in a psychiatric hospital for several years and then decided to become a certified medical assistant, which she did for seven years. Realizing that she wanted to be more hands-on and involved with people trying to get healthy she chose to practice massage therapy. Her strong medical background makes her a great addition to our team. Breanna also really enjoys working with expectant moms and completed a course on Prenatal massage her feelings: "Prenatal massage is a beautiful thing". As a mom of two, Breanna knows firsthand what it is like to want get your body back after having babies, too. She enjoys inspiring and helping women figure out how to get back in shape after childbirth!
Lynn, LMT, obtained her massage training in beautiful Boulder, Colorado in 2007. She has a very diverse set of skills ranging from orthopedic massage to Reiki Master and, most recently, Reiki instructor certification. Lynn can bring all of these tools together in a session to fully help people achieve balance of mind, body, and spirit. Lynn enjoys the outdoors and she once hiked the Grand Canyon! Lynn works part time and is available at all locations.
Ray, LMT, completed his 1000+ hour training program in 2010. Before becoming a massage therapist, Ray was a custom cabinet maker and custom-designed wood furnishings expert for more than 20 years. He has a sensitive approach to doing deep specific work that allows the muscles to release without force. Many clients have found Ray's approach to be very beneficial for correcting their long term pain issues. Most recently Ray has completed three levels of medical massage training, including treatments for headaches, neck pain, shoulder girdle pain, sciatica and low back pain protocols. Ray is available full time at our Country Club Rd location only. Ray is currently working on an on-call basis, by appointment.
Roger Scheltens, Chiropractic Physician, is a Palmer graduate who has been practicing chiropractic for over 30 years. He has been with Peaceful Spirit for 16 years, utilizing traditional chiropratic care methods and the very effective Disc Pump. Clients rave about the disc pump's gentleness and effectiveness in reducing or eliminating their severe back and disc related pain. Dr. Roger is credentialed with Blue Cross of Arizona, United Health Care, Medicare and several other carriers. (Click here for insurance verification.) He also works with personal injury cases related to auto accidents. Dr. Scheltens is available at our Country Club Road office and our North Oracle Road location, Monday through Friday.
Alice Adams, R.N., M.Ac. has been a licensed Five Element Acupuncturist since 1990. On her personal journey toward wellness, Alice discovered Five Element Acupuncture and its potential to facilitate healing on all levels: body, mind and spirit. As a hospice nurse and acupuncturist, she has worked extensively with the terminally ill, patients with immune deficiencies, and women’s health issues. In addition to her acupuncture practice, Alice teaches a group Qi Gong class (a self healing art and practice) weekly. Private classes are available, too. In 2005, she added Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, (a non-surgical facelift treatment) to her practice. Recently, AromaTouch® sessions have also been added to Alice's list of services.

Dr. Clare Zhang, Ph.D., L.Ac. has a very interesting background. She has a PhD in Physiology from the University of Florida and holds two patents! She had a successful academic career in biomedical research and taught in universities before her commitment to Chinese medicine. Clare grew up in China so she brings a deep cultural connection to the art of Chinese Medicine. She integrates TCM acupuncture, herbs, Tui Na (Chinese bodywork), nutritional and pharmacological consultations in her practice. She is available at our Country Club Rd and NW-Oracle Rd locations by appointment.
Loren M. Starks L.Ac. has recently joined the PS group. He has been practicing acupuncture for 4 years in another location and recently relocated his practice to Peaceful Spirit. Loren practices Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and offers Chinese herbal therapy, as well. We are excited about Loren's training with Cold Laser Therapy for pain management. He has had a lot of success helping patients who suffer from fibromyalgia with this treatment. Donna Papetti has over 30 years of professional experience in the fields of physical fitness, health and wellness. For the past 17 years, she has run her own practice in shamanism, energy work and meditation. She is passionate in her desire to support and guide any individual who wishes to manifest a healthy, balanced, and joy-filled life and has put together The Warrior Workout, (a do-it-yourself exercise program), to help people achieve that very goal.
